We learned that orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they're not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes. -David Platt

Eyes Wide Open

A couple days before Christmas, a few of us had the chance to drive out to Eyes Wide Open orphanage. We got to spend some time playing with the kids and had a blast with them.  We were able to see Watson, an orphan who spent a couple weeks at Medishare and was just recently placed at the orphanage (he was excited to see some familiar faces).  After some play time, the kids all lined up for Joanna, Mitch, and I to pass out gift bags to them.  When we gave one of the little boys his gift bag he said thank you and then gave each one of us a kiss on our cheek.  All the other kids took his lead and after they got their gifts bags would give all three of us hugs and kisses, it was the sweetest thing.  They were all so appreciative.  The gifts bags only had a few small things...a coloring book, a few crayons, stickers, some lollipops....but the kids were thrilled.  I was grateful for the opportunity to spend my day with these kids.  What better way to celebrate what Christmas is really all about...
